Matthew Walton is a figurative artist, currently based in Toronto, Canada.

His work is characterized by a graphic and slightly cubist approach, where he combines rigid geometry with expressive human forms to convey mood and narrative. Having graduated with an honors bachelor of Animation Art and Design from Sheridan College and spent four years working as an animator, utilizing body language to convey expression and story was crucial in Matthew’s commercial work, he now employs it heavily in his own art. Matthew most enjoys exploring the ‘in-between’ moments of day-to-day life. He often dramatizes these ordinary moments, sometimes poking fun, but always celebrating, by transforming the mundane into whimsical vignettes with bright color and bold shapes.
