About:

Matthew Walton (b. 1996) is an emerging artist based in Toronto. He holds a B.A.A. (Hons.) in Animation from Sheridan College. His mixed-media practice combines drawing and painting, often merging the human form with a distinct graphic sensibility. The result is figurative compositions that strike a vibrating textural contrast between softness and hardness.

Walton’s work highlights the quiet charm of everyday queerness: mundane moments are transformed by his bold, graphic approach to figuration and vibrant technicolor lens. These vignettes invite viewers into intimate, relatable scenes that blur the line between public and private space and It is within this liminal realm that Walton’s camp and Cubist-coded figures live; uninhibited. Here gestures and mannerisms once repressed are embraced - a celebration of authentic self-expression.
